Yesterday and Today and Tomorrow

YESTERDAY, TODAY and TOMORROW
Yesterday  I had time for no one and nothing.
Yesterday I rushed around
not remembering a thing that I did.
Yesterday I failed to notice
the people I was with.

Today I have time to make
my son’s breakfast.
Today I have time to notice
the pattern on the ivy in the window-box.
Today I am to learning to sew.

Tomorrow I hope to see you again.
Tomorrow I hope to meet with friends.
Tomorrow I hope to take the time to sit with you.

Yesterday, I didn’t thank You for my food.
I didn’t notice what I ate.
I didn’t notice who I was eating with.

Today I am not wasting food.
I am using every last drop of cream in the jar.
I am learning to make things stretch.

Tomorrow I will notice you at the shop counter.
I will buy only what I need.
I will remember the farmer who prepared it for my table.

Yesterday I did not make time to write to you.
I did not make time to listen to your words.
I did not make time to see your smile.

Today I am writing to friends I haven’t seen for some time.
I am looking up old phone numbers I had let go.
I am being a friend.

Tomorrow I will be glad to see you when we meet.
I will not judge before I have listened.
I will be glad to hear your news.

Yesterday I wasted food.
Yesterday I bought clothes I didn’t need.
Yesterday I threw away items with plenty of life still in them.

Today, I am getting another turn from that jumper.
Today I am digging further into my cupboards.
Today I am blowing the dust off a book from the shelf.

Tomorrow I will say my prayers.
Tomorrow I will meet you as church and be glad that you are there.
Tomorrow I will rejoice in the day that You have made. Amen.
