Bible Reading Jonah 1:17-2:10 Now the  Lord  provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. 2 From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. He said: “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help and you listened to my cry. 3 You hurled me into the depths, into the very heart of the seas,     and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breaker swept over me. 4 I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’ 5 The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me;     seaweed was wrapped around my head. 6 To the roots of the mountains I sank down;   the earth beneath barred me in forever. Yesterday and Today and Tomorrow

YESTERDAY, TODAY and TOMORROW Yesterday   I had time for no one  and nothing. Yesterday I rushed around  not remembering a thing that I did. Yesterday I failed to notice the people I was with. Today I have time to make my son’s breakfast. Today I have time to notice the pattern on the ivy in the window-box. Today I am to learning to sew. Tomorrow I hope to see you again. Tomorrow I hope to meet  with friends. Tomorrow I hope to take  the time to sit with you. Yesterday, I didn’t thank You for my food. I didn’t notice what I ate. I didn’t notice who I was eating with. Today I am not wasting food. I am using every last drop of cream in the jar. I am learning to make things stretch. Tomorrow I will notice you at the shop counter. I will buy only what I need. I will remember the farmer who prepared it for my table. Yesterday I did not make time to write to you. I did not make time to listen to you...

One thing remains constant however, and it was tucked away in last week’s reading from Psalm 22: ‘All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and He rules over the nations....
